Volkswagen to debut 2018 Atlas, Tiguan at Auto Show

The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas will debut at the Indy Auto Show.

Volkswagen will debut its new model, the Atlas, at the 2018 Indianapolis Auto Show, as well as presenting the all-new for 2018 Tiguan.

Touted as “the family-sized SUV built in America,” the 2018 VW Atlas comes in five distinct trim levels, room for up to seven adults and high-tech interior and drive train options. It is available with either a turbo-charged four-cylinder engine or the powerful VR6, both tied to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

“The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas represents a new chapter in Volkswagen’s U.S. story. Built in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the seven-passenger Atlas offers competitive levels of technology and spaciousness combined with hallmark Volkswagen driving dynamics and attention to detail, all at a price designed to draw attention in the crowded family SUV segment,” according to the VW press kit.

The VW Tiguan has been redesigned for 2018, with 58 percent more cargo space.

Volkswagen will also present the completely redesigned second generation of the popular and award-winning Tiguan, a mid-sized SUV based on VW’s Modular Transverse Matrix architecture. The Tiguan has gotten bigger for 2018: it’s 10.6 inches longer and has a whopping 58 percent more cargo space.

Third-row seating is now standard on certain trim levels and optional across the lineup. The updated 2.0-liter TSI engine is married to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

“The all-new 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan builds on the current model’s fun-to-drive character with a redesign specifically engineered to meet the needs of American customers, with a more sophisticated and spacious interior, flexible seating, and high-tech infotainment and available driver-assistance features,” the company said in a statement.
